About Same Day Courier Services
We arrange dedicated same-day vans across mainland UK and into Europe, around the clock. This page explains how we work, what every job includes and where our limits are.
- One vehicle and driver per booking
- Booking desk open 24/7
- Signed proof of delivery on every job
A courier service built around one van and one driver
Many of our jobs start with a phone call from someone with a problem today: a failed part on a production line, a signed contract due at a solicitor's office by 5.00 pm, or a pallet that missed its network collection. What those callers want is simple: a van that comes to them, takes their goods and nothing else, and drives straight to where the goods need to be.
That is the model we work to. Every booking is a dedicated vehicle for your consignment. Your goods travel from the collection point to the delivery point in that one van, without a depot stop, a sort or a hand-over to another driver. The only exception is when you book a multi-drop run and ask us to call at several addresses in a planned order.
A booking desk that never closes
We take bookings at every hour of the day and night, on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays as well as weekdays. A job booked at 2.00 am on a Sunday gets exactly the treatment of one booked at 10.00 am on a Tuesday: we note the details, agree a fixed price, locate the closest van that suits the load and tell you roughly when it will arrive.
We don't promise a collection within a set number of minutes, because that depends on where vans are when you call. What we do promise is a straight answer about timing before you commit, and a call if anything changes.
How we choose the vehicle
We ask about the goods themselves, their dimensions and weight, the number of pieces and the access at both addresses. Then we choose the smallest van that can take the load safely; a larger vehicle is dearer to operate, and there is no sense in you paying for empty floor.
Our vans run from small vans for boxes and single pallets up to Luton vans with tail lifts for furniture, cages and heavier items, plus refrigerated vans for chilled goods. Typical dimensions and payloads for each van are listed in our vehicle size guide. Where your goods come near the limit of a van, we will recommend going one size bigger rather than gamble on a tight fit when the driver arrives.
What every job includes
Every job includes three things as standard, whatever the vehicle or distance: live updates while your goods are on the move, a signed proof of delivery at handover, and goods in transit insurance. Each is explained below, including how cover is confirmed for consignments that are high in value.
- Live updates. We let you know once the goods are on board and keep you posted during the drive, which means the person expecting them is never left guessing.
- Signed proof of delivery. At handover the driver records who took the goods and when, and gets their signature. A photo is added when it is useful, say to show exactly where a delivery was left.
- Goods in transit insurance. Every job carries this cover as standard. Our terms and conditions explain the limits and what is excluded. Give us the value of the consignment at booking and we will either confirm it is covered or put extra cover in place if the goods are high in value.
What we don't do
Being clear about this saves everyone time. We don't carry hazardous goods under ADR, live animals, cash or valuables needing a cash-in-transit service, or vehicles. We don't offer removals, crane or HIAB loading, motorcycle or bicycle couriers, or lorries above Luton size. If your job needs any of these, we will say so when you call.
Where we go
Collections and deliveries can be anywhere on the British mainland: England, Scotland or Wales. Places reached only by ferry, which means Northern Ireland, the Isle of Wight, the Channel Islands and Scotland's islands, fall outside the standard service, so check with us first. Beyond the UK we run direct road services into Europe by dedicated van, and further afield we arrange shipments on request through partner carriers.
Working with businesses
Many of our customers book regularly: workshops sending parts, law firms moving documents, retailers topping up stores. For approved businesses we offer account invoicing, subject to a credit check, with job references on every invoice. Anyone can book without one, and our how it works page explains the process.
FAQ
Common questions
Are you a courier company or a booking platform?
We take your booking, agree the price and manage the job from collection to signed delivery. You deal with one booking desk throughout, and if anything changes during the job it is our desk that calls you.
Do you have a depot near me?
We don't route goods through local depots, and that is deliberate. The van that loads at your door is the same one that unloads at the other end, so nothing sits in a sorting centre along the way. At booking we look at which suitable vehicle is closest to you right then and give you an estimated collection time from that.
Can I talk to a person rather than fill in a form?
Yes. Someone picks up the booking line at any hour, weekday or weekend, and for anything urgent a call is the quickest way to book. You can reach us on 020 4525 2039. The quote form suits jobs that are planned a little further ahead.
Why would you turn a job down?
Usually because it needs something we don't offer, such as hazardous goods carried under ADR, a crane or HIAB lorry, or a vehicle bigger than a Luton van. We would rather say so on the phone than accept the booking and let you down on the day.
