Glasgow jobs split two ways
Glasgow courier work tends to fall into two very different kinds. There are short, tightly timed runs within the city and the Clyde corridor: a document to a solicitor on West George Street, a part to an engineering firm in Hillington, kit to the SEC. Then there are the long runs south across the border, where the question is less about streets and more about driving hours.
Both kinds start the same way. The van sent to you is the nearest suitable one at the time of booking, and the collection estimate we give you is worked out from its position, not from a standard promise. On a cross-border run the same driver stays with your consignment all the way to the signature at the far end.
The Low Emission Zone
Glasgow's LEZ has been enforced since 1 June 2023. It covers roughly a square mile of the city centre, from the M8 on the north and west edges to the Clyde on the south and Saltmarket and High Street on the east. That takes in the main office district around Blythswood Square and St Vincent Street, Buchanan Street, the Merchant City and Central and Queen Street stations.
Unlike the charging Clean Air Zones in some English cities, non-compliant vehicles cannot simply pay to enter the LEZ: they face a penalty. So when you book, we check your collection and delivery addresses against the boundary, and for addresses inside the zone we allocate a vehicle that meets the LEZ standard. You do not need to do anything except give us the full address.
The M8 through the middle
Few cities have a motorway running through the centre the way the M8 cuts through Glasgow. It is quick when it flows, and Kingston Bridge, along with the junctions around Charing Cross and Townhead, is where it often slows. Many city-centre jobs are faster on surface streets at peak times. The M74 extension and the M77 and M80 give alternatives to the south and north.
Industrial and business areas we serve regularly include:
- Hillington Park, beside the M8 near junction 26, home to manufacturers, distributors and trade counters
- Queenslie and Easterhouse on the east side, also off the M8
- Cambuslang and Rutherglen, reached from the M74
- Pacific Quay and the media businesses across the river from the SEC
For lines that cannot wait, our manufacturing and engineering courier page covers line-side delivery and booking-in.

Life sciences and hospitals
The Glasgow Riverside Innovation District around the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Govan now includes the Health Innovation Hub, opened in March 2026, with laboratories and clinical research tenants. East along the M8, BioCity Scotland at Newhouse houses biotech and contract research firms.
The work this creates is precise rather than heavy: a temperature-controlled box of reagents from a supplier in Cambridge, samples moving between a research lab and a hospital department, or replacement analyser parts. Glasgow Royal Infirmary, the QEUH campus and the University of Glasgow at Gilmorehill each have their own goods-in arrangements. Our medical and pharmaceutical courier page explains packaging and handover, and the refrigerated courier page covers chilled consignments.
SEC events
The Scottish Event Campus on the north bank of the Clyde hosts exhibitions, conferences and concerts. Exhibitors usually need us during build-up, on the opening morning when a box has gone missing, and at break-down. Venue access is controlled by time slot, so we plan arrivals to match. Our events and exhibitions courier page has more detail.
South to England
Plenty of Glasgow jobs leave Scotland. The M74 and A74(M) join the M6 at Carlisle, and from there a van can reach most cities in England the same day. A dedicated courier is often the only realistic way to get an urgent consignment from Glasgow to the Midlands or London on the day it is ready.

FAQ
Common questions
Can you deliver inside Glasgow's Low Emission Zone?
Yes. The zone covers about one square mile of the city centre, bounded by the M8 to the north and west, the Clyde to the south and Saltmarket and High Street to the east. It runs 24 hours a day, every day. Vehicles that do not meet the standard are not allowed in, and penalties apply, so for addresses inside the zone we allocate a vehicle that meets the LEZ standard, and we check this when you book. The M8 itself is outside the zone.
We need a part from Hillington in Carlisle by lunchtime. Is that realistic?
Usually, if it is ready when the van arrives. Hillington Park is beside the M8 near junction 26, so the van is on the motorway within minutes, and Carlisle is about 95 road miles south via the M74 and A74(M). The time it takes depends mostly on traffic through the Kingston Bridge area and any roadworks on the M74. We confirm an estimated collection time when you book and keep you updated on progress.
Can one driver take a van from Glasgow to London and back the same day?
No. London is about 400 road miles from Glasgow, which a single driver can cover one way within the daily limits. A same-day return would mean around 800 miles, well beyond the 10 hours of driving allowed in a day for van drivers under GB domestic rules. If you need the van back, we plan a second driver or an overnight stop and explain the options and cost when you book.
Do you deliver to stands at the SEC?
Yes. Exhibitors, conference organisers and production crews use us to bring stand materials, AV kit and printed items to the Scottish Event Campus during build-up, and to collect at break-down. Give us the hall, stand number and the organiser's delivery schedule, since venues usually allocate vehicle access by time slot. We aim the van to arrive within your slot, not hours early to queue.
Can you carry laboratory samples to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital campus?
We carry medical consignments that the sender has packaged correctly. Diagnostic samples classed as UN3373 Biological Substance Category B must be triple-packaged to P650 by the sender before collection. Tell us the building and department on the QEUH campus and whether a temperature range applies, and we will send a suitable vehicle. We follow the handling and documentation requirements you set out.
