Business courier service and accounts
Our business courier service gives approved companies dedicated same-day vans without paying job by job. An account brings invoicing, one booking desk around the clock, and a clear record of every job and its proof of delivery.
- Account invoicing for approved businesses
- One booking desk, 24/7
- Job references and PO numbers on invoices

Who a courier account suits
A courier account makes most sense once same-day jobs become part of how your business runs rather than an occasional emergency. A machine shop sending a part to a customer most weeks, a law firm moving signed documents between offices, a wholesaler topping up a branch that has run short: these businesses want to phone, quote a reference and know the job will appear on an invoice later.
That is what our business courier service is set up to do. The vans, drivers and service are the same as for any booking: a dedicated vehicle driving directly from collection to delivery, live updates on the way and a signed proof of delivery at the end. The account changes how you book, how you pay and how you keep track.
Account invoicing
Approved businesses are invoiced for their jobs rather than paying for each one at the time of booking. We offer accounts after a credit check, and the terms are confirmed with you when the account is approved.
Each job is still quoted and agreed as a fixed price before collection. The booker knows the cost before the van is sent, and the invoice shows the same figure. If something changes during a job, for example waiting time at a busy goods-in or an extra drop added on the day, we tell the booker before it is added.
One point of contact, any time
You deal with one booking desk by phone or email, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including bank holidays. The person who answers at 3.00 am on a Sunday can see your account, your standing instructions and your regular addresses, so an out-of-hours booking does not mean starting from scratch.
For urgent work, phone is quickest: call 020 4525 2039. For planned jobs or a list of collections, email info@samedaycourierservices.co.uk with the details and we will confirm each one back to you.
Standing instructions
Most businesses have a few rules for how deliveries should be handled, and they should not need repeating on every call. We record these against the account, for example:
- Only named staff may book, or every booking must carry a PO number.
- Collections from your site go through goods-in at the rear, not reception.
- Deliveries to a particular customer must be signed for by a named person or department.
- The driver should call a site contact 30 minutes before arrival.
- Goods above a certain value must be declared so cover can be confirmed.
The booking desk applies these automatically. If a booking would break one, such as a request without a PO number, we query it before the van is sent.
Invoices your accounts team can reconcile
Hidden extras and invoices that don't match the booking are common complaints about couriers, and our invoices are built to avoid both. Every job is listed with its date, collection and delivery addresses, vehicle, agreed price and any agreed extras, alongside the references you gave us: a job number, a PO number, a cost centre or a customer order number.
That means a finance team can match a line on our invoice to a purchase order, or recharge a delivery to the right client, without ringing the person who booked it. Invoices are consolidated, so a busy month produces one document to process rather than a pile of individual receipts.
Proof of delivery records
Every job closes with a proof of delivery: the recipient's name, the time and a signature, with a photograph where useful. On an account, each POD is held against its job. When a customer says an order never arrived, or you need to show when papers reached another firm, ask us for the record by job reference, date or your own reference.
For businesses that deliver to their own customers, this is often the most useful part of the account. A signed, timed POD settles most "where is it?" disputes in minutes. Our guide to proof of delivery explains what makes a POD useful as evidence.
Scheduled and regular work
Some account customers book only when something urgent comes up. Others run regular routes: a daily collection from a factory to a finishing plant, a weekly delivery to retail branches, or a standing early-morning run to a hospital. We set these up as scheduled courier work, with the same vehicle type, times and instructions each time, and the jobs appear on your account invoice like any other.
Where a route has several stops, a planned multi-drop run usually works out better than separate jobs.
Goods in transit cover
Account jobs carry the same goods in transit insurance as every booking. Cover limits and exclusions are set out in our terms and conditions. Tell us the value of high-value consignments when you book, or set a standing instruction to declare them, and we will confirm cover or arrange additional cover where needed.
How to apply
Applying takes around five minutes using the form below, or on our account application page. Tell us your company details, an accounts contact for invoices and roughly what you expect to send. We will review the application, carry out the credit check and contact you about the next steps. Until the account is approved, you can still book any job by phone or through our quote form.
FAQ
Common questions
Who can apply for a business courier account?
Most kinds of business can apply, from sole traders to larger companies. Accounts are offered to approved businesses after a credit check, so we will ask for your company details and an accounts contact when you apply. Approval depends on the outcome of that check.
Do I have to commit to a minimum number of jobs?
An account is a way of booking and paying, not a contract to send a set volume. Some customers use theirs every day and others a handful of times a year when something urgent comes up. If you do want a regular run, such as a daily collection or a weekly delivery to a branch, that is set up as scheduled work alongside the account.
Can several people in our company book on the same account?
Yes. Tell us who is allowed to book and we will note them on the account. Each booking can carry the booker's name and your own reference, so when the invoice arrives your accounts team can see who ordered each job and which department or cost centre it belongs to. You can also ask us to require a PO number on every booking.
How do I get a copy of a proof of delivery?
Every job's proof of delivery is sent to you when the job closes, and it is held against the job on your account. If you need a copy later, perhaps because a customer is disputing receipt, contact the booking desk with the job reference, date or your own reference and we will send it to you.
Are account jobs priced differently?
Each job is still quoted as a fixed price before collection, based on distance, vehicle, timing and any extras. The difference is how you pay: rather than paying for each booking separately, the jobs are invoiced to your account. For regular routes we can agree prices in advance so that the booker does not need a fresh quote every time.
Can our customers or suppliers book collections on our account?
Yes, if you authorise it. Many accounts arrange collections from suppliers or returns from customers, with the job billed to the account holder. Give us the names of the companies or people allowed to book, and any limits you want, and we will check new bookings against those standing instructions.
