A port city's courier needs

Knowsley Business Park, near Prescot, is one of the largest employment sites on Merseyside. It sits about a mile from junction 4 of the M57 and close to the East Lancashire Road. Distributors, manufacturers and food businesses here send a lot of pallet and part-load work east along the M62.
Speke in the south of the city has the Estuary Commerce Park, Liverpool John Lennon Airport and a cluster of biomanufacturing and pharmaceutical plants. Halewood, next door, is home to a major vehicle plant and its supply chain. Jobs here are often line-side parts with booking-in references, or temperature-sensitive consignments where the sender sets the handling rules. The Knowledge Quarter
East of the city centre, the Knowledge Quarter brings together the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre's Liverpool hospital, the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University. Alder Hey Children's Hospital is a few miles east in West Derby, and Aintree University Hospital is in the north near the end of the M57.
Consignments here are typically samples, research materials, medical equipment or urgent replacement parts for laboratory analysers. Motorways and river crossings
Liverpool has three main motorway links:
- M62 east to Warrington, Manchester and Leeds, starting at the edge of the city near Broadgreen
- M57, the eastern bypass linking Aintree, Knowsley and Huyton with the M62
- M58 north-east to Skelmersdale, Wigan and the M6
The Mersey is the other factor. Wirral addresses are reached through the Queensway or Kingsway tunnels, or by going round via the M56 and M53. Runcorn and Widnes traffic uses the Mersey Gateway or the Silver Jubilee Bridge. The tunnels and the bridges are tolled, and any toll on your route is included in the price.
At peak times the M62 near the M57 junction and the approaches to the tunnels are the usual places for delays. A 6.00 am start from Knowsley to Leeds often saves a lot compared with leaving at 8.00 am.

Our container has cleared at Seaforth. Can you take part of it to a customer today?
Yes, once your agent confirms the goods are released and available at the terminal or devanning warehouse. Give us the release reference, the collection point, the number of cartons or pallets and the weights. Port sites have their own booking and safety rules, which we pass to the driver. A Luton with a tail lift or an LWB van handles most part-loads, and the van goes direct to your customer with no depot stop.
Are Mersey tunnel tolls added to the price for Wirral deliveries?
No, not on top of what we agree. Deliveries between Liverpool and the Wirral often use the Queensway or Kingsway tunnels, and runs towards Runcorn and Cheshire may use the Mersey Gateway bridge. All of these crossings are tolled. When a route needs one, the toll is part of the fixed price you approve before we collect.
Can you deliver to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital or Alder Hey?
Yes. The Royal Liverpool sits in the Knowledge Quarter on the east side of the city centre, and Alder Hey is in West Derby. Both have specific goods-in points and departmental receiving areas, so give us the building, department and named recipient. For diagnostic samples, the sender must triple-package to P650 for UN3373 consignments before collection. We follow the handling and documentation requirements you set out.
We are on Knowsley Business Park. How quickly can you reach the motorway?
Very quickly. Knowsley Business Park is about a mile from junction 4 of the M57 and close to the A580 East Lancashire Road, so a van is on the M57 within minutes and on the M62 or M58 shortly after. That makes same-day runs to Manchester, Leeds, Preston or the Midlands straightforward. How soon the van reaches you depends on where the closest suitable vehicle is when you book; we give you that estimate on the call.
