Same day courier service in London
A dedicated van collects your consignment anywhere in London and drives it straight to the delivery address, across town or to any city in mainland UK. Congestion Charge and ULEZ are built into the fixed price before we collect.

A London booking, from call to signature
London work is mostly about the last mile and the last 20 minutes: finding a legal place to stop, getting past a building's security desk and reaching the person who signs. The motorway part, if there is one, is the easy bit. Our dispatch is set up around that.
Dispatch works from live positions, not from a depot. When you call, we look at which suitable van is closest to your collection point, which in London might be finishing a drop in Hammersmith or heading back from Stratford, and give you an estimated collection time based on that. Your consignment never sits in a sorting shed.
- Tell us both ends in detail
Full addresses with postcodes, loading bay or goods-in instructions, floor and lift access, and the names of the people handing over and receiving.
- Agree the vehicle and price
We match the van to the load using our van size guide and give you a fixed price that already includes any Congestion Charge or ULEZ charge.
- Collection and live updates
The driver loads, sends confirmation and heads straight to the delivery address. You can follow progress until it arrives.
- Signed proof of delivery
Recipient name, time and signature, with a photo where it helps, sent to you as soon as the van is unloaded.
Congestion Charge, ULEZ, river crossings and red routes
Several sets of rules shape London jobs, and none of them should surprise you on an invoice.
Congestion Charge. Collections and deliveries inside the central zone, or routes through it during charging hours, may attract the daily charge. We include it in your quote when it applies.
ULEZ. The Ultra Low Emission Zone covers all London boroughs. Any charge relevant to the vehicle on your job is included in the price, so an outer-borough delivery in Croydon or Enfield is priced the same transparent way as one in Holborn.
River crossings. The Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels have been charged since April 2025, and the Dartford Crossing is also charged. If your route uses them, these charges may apply and are included in your quote.
Red routes. On the TfL road network, marked with red lines, stopping is banned except in signed loading bays at permitted times. A driver who cannot find a legal bay on Euston Road or the Embankment has to circle, and that costs you minutes. It is the main reason we ask for side-street access, rear entrances and service yards when you book.
Getting into central buildings
The City. Law firms, insurers and banks in EC postcodes tend to receive through a post room or a basement loading bay. Entry to the Square Mile passes through the security cordon, where vans can be stopped and checked. Tender bids, signed agreements and court bundles bound for the Royal Courts of Justice or a City firm need a named recipient and a hard deadline, and we plan backwards from that deadline.
The West End. Mayfair, Soho and Covent Garden have narrow streets, timed loading and pedestrian-heavy spaces. Retail stock for a Regent Street store or props for a Shaftesbury Avenue theatre usually arrive more easily before the shops open or after the evening crowds thin. For production companies moving kit between Soho post houses and studios, see our film and TV courier work.
Canary Wharf and Docklands. The estate is privately managed, and most towers receive goods through central loading areas. Many want the vehicle registration and a booking reference in advance. Send us the instructions and we pass them to the driver before the van arrives at the estate.
Hospitals. Deliveries to sites such as St Thomas', Guy's, the Royal London or Great Ormond Street usually go to a specific goods-in point or department, not the main entrance. For samples, medicines and equipment, our medical courier work explains what you need to prepare.

Park Royal, the A40 and the Heathrow side
West London has a different rhythm from the centre. Park Royal is London's largest block of industrial land, home to food manufacturers, distributors, prop houses and vehicle workshops. Jobs here are more often pallets, cages and machine parts than envelopes, and the vehicle matters more: a Luton with a tail lift for a pallet of chilled product going to a caterer in Battersea, or an LWB van for shelving bound for a store fit-out.
Further out, the Heathrow cargo area and the forwarders' sheds around Hatton Cross, Stanwell, Poyle and Colnbrook handle import and export freight. We collect and deliver landside only. A typical job is a carton released by a handling agent at 2.00 pm that must reach a laboratory in Cambridge or an engineering firm in Swindon the same evening. For chilled imports, we can send a refrigerated van and agree the temperature range with you at booking.
Why evenings and nights move faster
Daytime London traffic is the single biggest variable in a London quote. The A406 North Circular, the Blackwall Tunnel approach, the A40 Westway and the Euston Road all slow sharply at peak times, and roadworks can add more.
After about 8.00 pm, most of that eases. Kerbside loading restrictions on many streets also end. A van that leaves Park Royal at 9.00 pm will often reach Canary Wharf in a fraction of its morning time, and a shop fit-out crew can unload on the high street while it is quiet. Because we operate 24 hours a day, including weekends and bank holidays, a same-night delivery or a 5.00 am arrival is ordinary work for us, and it often saves time on the road.
Typical journeys from London to the regions
A large share of London jobs leave the M25 altogether. Here is what typical routes look like:
| From London to | Approximate road miles | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Birmingham | 120 | M40 or M1/M6 |
| Bristol | 120 | M4 throughout |
| Cardiff | 150 | M4 over the Prince of Wales Bridge |
| Leeds | 195 | M1 throughout |
| Manchester | 200 | M40/M42/M6 or M1/M6 |
| Edinburgh | 400 | A1(M) or M6/A74(M); one way in a single driving day |
These are approximate road miles; actual time depends on traffic and time of day. A van that leaves central London in the morning peak can lose an hour reaching the M25, so for long runs we often suggest a pre-6.00 am or evening start.
For time-critical consignments of any size, such as a replacement server for a Manchester data centre or an exhibition stand that has to be built in Birmingham by tomorrow, book an urgent courier. Direct services into Europe also leave from London: see our European courier page for the customs paperwork involved. For nearby towns we cover just as often, see our pages on Cambridge and Brighton.
FAQ
Common questions
Will the Congestion Charge or ULEZ be added after delivery?
No. When your collection or delivery address falls inside the Congestion Charge zone, or the job runs through it, we include any charge that applies in the fixed price you approve. ULEZ now covers every London borough, so it is part of the same calculation. Charges change from time to time, which is why we price them per job rather than quoting a figure on this page. The only things that can change the price afterwards are changes you make, such as an extra drop or waiting time beyond what was agreed.
Can you deliver to a tower in Canary Wharf or the City that has a booked loading bay?
Yes, and the more you tell us in advance the smoother it goes. Give us the building's goods-in instructions, any booking reference for the loading dock and the name of the person receiving. Many towers ask for the vehicle registration ahead of arrival, and we send it as soon as the van is assigned. Inside the City's security cordon the driver may be stopped at an entry point, so we allow for that in the timing.
Is it faster to book a London delivery for the evening?
Often it is. A van crossing from Park Royal to Canary Wharf at 8.30 am can spend longer in traffic than the same run takes after 8.00 pm, and kerbside loading is usually easier once the daytime restrictions end. If the recipient can accept late or early, an overnight or early-morning slot is worth considering. We run 24 hours a day, so a 6.00 am arrival at a West End shop or a 10.00 pm drop at a venue is routine work.
Can you take goods from London to Manchester or Edinburgh the same day?
Yes. London to Manchester is about 200 road miles and London to Edinburgh about 400, and both are single-driver runs for a dedicated van booked in the morning, if the goods are ready early. What a single driver cannot do is a same-day return on the longest routes, because van drivers are limited to 10 hours of driving a day. If you need the van to come back, or the route is longer, we tell you at booking whether it needs a second driver or an overnight plan.
Do you collect from the Heathrow cargo area?
We collect from and deliver to landside premises around Heathrow, such as forwarders' and handling agents' warehouses in the cargo area and the industrial estates nearby. We do not operate airside. Your forwarder or agent releases the goods to our driver at their landside door, so have the air waybill number and release details ready when you book. The same applies to sheds serving Gatwick, Stansted and London City.
