Dundee in three directions
Dundee sits on the north bank of the Firth of Tay, and its courier work leaves the city in three directions. South over the Tay Road Bridge to north Fife and St Andrews. West along the Kingsway and the A90 to Perth, where the M90 heads for Edinburgh and the A9 for Inverness and the Central Belt. And north-east up the A90 to Arbroath, Montrose and Aberdeen.
Each direction has its own timing quirks. The Tay Road Bridge is short but exposed, and wind restrictions can send a Fife run the long way round by Perth. The Kingsway, the A90 dual carriageway that runs around the north of the city, carries most through traffic and slows at its roundabouts at peak times. We plan around both.
Whatever the direction, the service is the same: one dedicated van and driver, allocated from wherever the nearest suitable vehicle is, with an estimated collection time confirmed when you book.
Laboratories and life sciences
Dundee has a reputation in life sciences well beyond its size. The University of Dundee's School of Life Sciences and its Drug Discovery Unit carry out research that relies on reagents, cell lines, samples and equipment arriving intact and on time. Ninewells Hospital, on the west side of the city, houses the medical school as well as the main hospital, and life science companies operate in and around the city.
The consignments are small and often temperature-sensitive. A box of reagents from a supplier in England, samples going to a collaborating lab, a replacement part for an analyser. For chilled items we send a refrigerated courier and agree the temperature range with you at booking; typical chilled ranges are 2–8 °C. Our medical and pharmaceutical courier page sets out the packaging and handover rules.
For a lab or hospital delivery, tell us
- The building, department and room at both ends
- The name of the person who will sign
- Any temperature range and how long the goods can safely be in transit
- Whether the consignment includes UN3373 specimens, which must be packaged to P650 by the sender
The port and renewables
The Port of Dundee, on the river east of the city centre, handles cargo and supports offshore energy work, including renewables and decommissioning. Port businesses and the contractors around them need parts, tooling and documents moved at short notice, often from suppliers hundreds of miles away. We deliver to the landside address and reporting point your contact gives us; port sites have their own security procedures, so share any reference or vehicle details they need.
North-east of the centre, the Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc occupies the former Michelin tyre factory site at Baldovie and focuses on low-carbon transport and energy businesses. Urgent engineering work there follows the same pattern as any industrial site: a named recipient, a booking reference if the site uses one, and a van that goes straight there. Our urgent courier page explains how fast-turnaround jobs work.
Studios, the waterfront and the city centre
Dundee is known for its games industry, Abertay University is known for its computer games courses, and the waterfront around V&A Dundee has brought new offices and visitors. Studios send development kits, hardware and display equipment for events, and the city centre's offices and shops send documents and stock.
The city centre is also where the Low Emission Zone applies. Dundee's zone covers the area inside the A991 Inner Ring Road and has been enforced since 30 May 2024; the ring road itself is not included. Non-compliant vehicles that enter face a penalty, so for addresses inside the zone we allocate a compliant vehicle and check this when you book.
Sending a parcel to Dundee
Many people looking for parcel delivery to Dundee are sending from elsewhere in the UK. If the parcel cannot wait for a network, our same-day parcel courier sends one van from your door to the Dundee address. On a long run from England, the main limit is the driver's daily hours, which we plan at booking.

FAQ
Common questions
Can you deliver a parcel to Dundee from England on the same day?
Yes, as a dedicated run. Instead of passing through a parcel network, one van collects your parcel and drives it straight to the Dundee address. From Newcastle the run is around 165 miles, and from Manchester around 285, both within one driver's daily limits. From London it is about 460 miles, which is at the edge of one driver's day, so we plan the timing or a second driver and confirm it when you book.
What happens if the Tay Road Bridge is restricted in high winds?
The bridge can be closed to high-sided vehicles, or closed altogether, in strong winds. If that happens on a run between Dundee and north Fife, the alternative is round by Perth and the Friarton Bridge on the M90, which adds 40 miles or more. We check the bridge status before the driver sets off and tell you if the route or timing changes.
Can you collect research samples from the University of Dundee and take them to a lab in Cambridge?
Yes. Cambridge is about 420 miles away, so it is a long run, but one driver can usually complete it within the daily limit if collection is early. The sender packages the samples correctly before collection, including triple packaging to P650 for UN3373 specimens. If the samples must stay chilled or frozen, tell us the range and we send a refrigerated vehicle.
Our premises are inside the Inner Ring Road. Will the van meet the emission rules?
Yes. The zone covers the city centre inside the A991 Inner Ring Road, and it has been enforced since 30 May 2024. The ring road itself is outside the zone. For addresses inside it we allocate a vehicle that meets the LEZ standard, and we check this against the full address when you book, so you do not have to work it out yourself.
Do you cover Perth, Angus and north Fife as well?
Yes. Perth, Arbroath, Forfar, Montrose, Carnoustie, Broughty Ferry, Newport-on-Tay, Tayport and St Andrews are all covered in the same way as Dundee. We allocate the nearest suitable vehicle and confirm an estimated collection time at booking, based on where that vehicle is.
