Ipswich courier service by dedicated van
One van and driver for your Ipswich consignment, collecting from a waterfront office, an A14 industrial estate or a Felixstowe forwarder and going straight to the delivery address, in Suffolk, London or anywhere in mainland UK.
- Felixstowe 12 miles down the A14
- Pallets and part loads by van
- Collections 24 hours a day

Next door to Felixstowe
Ipswich sits at the head of the Orwell estuary, about 12 miles up the A14 from Felixstowe, the UK's largest container port. That relationship shapes a lot of the town's courier work. Import consignments released at a forwarder's warehouse, export goods that must reach a container packing point, spares for port equipment and paperwork for shipping agents all pass through Ipswich or start there.
Our job in each case is simple to describe: one dedicated van and driver, collecting your consignment and driving directly to the delivery address with no depot sorting. As soon as you book, we allocate the nearest suitable vehicle and confirm when it should reach you.
Port work, landside
We do not haul containers, and we do not go onto the quay. What a van can do is move the goods around the port: from a warehouse where a container has been unpacked to the factory waiting for them, or from your premises to the forwarder packing an export box. Ipswich's own port, on the river close to the town centre, also handles bulk and general cargo, with agents and warehouses nearby.
For a port-related collection or delivery
- Forwarder or warehouse name and full landside address
- Release reference, booking number or container number
- The warehouse's delivery or collection hours and any slot system
- Commercial invoice and export documents ready if the goods are leaving the UK
- The latest time the receiver can accept the goods, not just the sailing date
For palletised loads, our pallet delivery service explains how many pallets each van takes. Heavier or bulkier part loads are covered by light haulage and tail-lift delivery, using vans up to a Luton.
Industrial estates and trade
Ipswich's industrial areas are spread around the edge of the town, mostly close to the A14.
- Ransomes Europark, on the east side near the A14 at Nacton, has distribution centres, manufacturers and trade suppliers. Futura Park, next to it, has trade and retail units.
- Whitehouse Industrial Estate, in the north-west of the town, is a long-established area of engineering firms, workshops and builders' merchants.
- Hadleigh Road Industrial Estate and Boss Hall, on the west side, mix light industry, motor trade and storage.
- Riverside Industrial Park has smaller industrial and workshop units.
Typical requests from these sites are a part for a stopped production line, a pallet that missed the network, or tools and materials for a site in Suffolk or Essex.
Offices, tech and healthcare
Ipswich has a long-established insurance and financial services sector, with large offices around the town centre and the waterfront. Their urgent consignments are mostly original documents, signed contracts and IT equipment. Our document courier service explains how originals are handed over and signed for.
Adastral Park at Martlesham Heath, just east of the town, is a major research and technology campus with telecoms and technology companies on site. Ipswich Hospital, on the east side of the town, is the main acute hospital for east Suffolk, and the University of Suffolk has its campus on the waterfront.

Roads, the Orwell Bridge and typical journeys
The A14 runs around the south and west of Ipswich, linking Felixstowe with Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge and the Midlands. It meets the A12 at the Copdock interchange south-west of the town. The A12 continues north-east to Woodbridge and the Suffolk coast, and the A140 runs north to Norwich.
The Orwell Bridge, which carries the A14 over the estuary, is the main pinch point. It can close in high winds or after an incident, sending traffic through the town and slowing every route at once. The Copdock interchange and the Seven Hills junction near Nacton also queue at peak times.
Mileages are approximate and measured from central Ipswich by the usual route.

| Bury St Edmunds | 27 miles | A14 |

FAQ
Common questions
What happens if the Orwell Bridge is closed when our goods need to move?
The bridge carries the A14 over the river south of the town and can close or be restricted in high winds or after an incident. When it does, A14 traffic is diverted through Ipswich and the town's roads slow considerably. We check the bridge before confirming a time-critical booking, tell you if the timing is at risk and keep you updated during the job.
Can you collect an urgent consignment from a forwarder near Felixstowe and take it to the Midlands?
Yes. Many import consignments are unpacked at warehouses around Felixstowe, Trimley and the A14, and a part needed by a factory can be collected there as soon as it is released. Give us the release reference, the warehouse address and the delivery point. Birmingham is around 150 miles away, a normal same-day run if the goods are released by early afternoon.
Do you deliver to Adastral Park at Martlesham?
Yes. Adastral Park is a few miles east of Ipswich, just off the A12. It is a secure site, so give us the building, the reception or goods-in point, the name of the person receiving and any visitor reference the site has issued. Our IT equipment courier page explains how servers, network kit and test equipment are packed and loaded.
Can you take materials to a construction site on the Suffolk coast?
Yes, for loads that fit a van up to a Luton with a tail lift. Large construction sites, including those near Leiston, run strict delivery booking systems with fixed slots, vehicle registrations and gate procedures. Give us the site's booking reference and slot, and we plan the run along the A12 to arrive in time. Our construction courier page covers site deliveries in more detail.
We are an insurance firm in the town centre. Can you take original documents to the City of London today?
Yes. The City is about 80 miles from Ipswich down the A12, and a morning collection normally reaches it by early afternoon. Tell us the building, the floor or post room and the recipient. One driver carries the documents throughout, and the proof of delivery records who signed and when.
