Bradford's Clean Air Zone and what it means for your delivery
Bradford has operated a charging Clean Air Zone since September 2022. It applies to commercial vehicles, including vans, that do not meet the zone's emissions standards; private cars are not charged. The zone covers the city inside the Outer Ring Road, along with the Aire Valley corridor through Shipley and Saltaire.
For you as a customer, the practical point is simple. We price each job with the zone in mind, and if the van allocated to your consignment would be charged for entering, we include it in the quote you accept before the van sets off. You never receive a separate charge afterwards, and you do not need to check the van's emissions yourself.
The rest of the booking works like any other dedicated job. Your consignment has a van and driver to itself and travels straight from the collection point to the drop. We work out which suitable van is closest at the moment you call and use that to give you an estimated collection time.
What Bradford sends
Bradford's urgent consignments come from three main sources: manufacturing and engineering firms on estates such as Euroway and the Aire Valley, food producers sending samples, short-dated orders and chilled stock, and the city's hospitals and university, which move samples, equipment and pharmacy goods between sites.
Manufacturing and engineering
Bradford grew on wool and textiles, and the mills left behind a manufacturing culture that is still strong. Engineering firms, printers, chemical and packaging manufacturers and textile specialists work from industrial estates across the district. The Euroway Trading Estate beside the M606, the Bowling Back Lane area and the units along Canal Road and in the Aire Valley all generate urgent work: a seized bearing, a batch of printed packaging for a customer's production run, a sample bolt of cloth for a buyer. Stopped production lines and routine parts runs for factories are both covered on our manufacturing and engineering courier page. Mill buildings converted to modern units often have tight yards and upper-floor loading, so tell us about access when you book.
Food and retail
Food manufacturing is a big employer in Bradford, from snacks and baked goods to meat, dairy and specialist foods, and Morrisons has its head office in the city. Food producers use same-day vans for samples to retailers' technical teams, short-dated orders that missed a trailer, and chilled stock that must stay cold. Anything that has to stay cold travels with our refrigerated courier service.
Getting a chilled Bradford collection right
Have the product at its target temperature before the van arrives, packed so cold air can circulate, and tell us the temperature range and delivery slot at booking. A refrigerated van keeps product cold; it is not designed to cool down warm stock.

Health and education
Bradford Royal Infirmary on Duckworth Lane is the main acute hospital, with St Luke's Hospital on Little Horton Lane, and the University of Bradford sits on the western edge of the city centre. Samples, equipment and pharmacy consignments go to a named department; the sender packages them to the standard required. More on this work is on our medical and pharmaceutical courier page.
Roads around Bradford
The M606 links Bradford to the M62 at junction 26, Chain Bar, which is one of the busiest junctions in West Yorkshire at peak times. The A650 runs up the Aire Valley to Shipley, Bingley and Keighley, and the A647 and A6177 Outer Ring Road carry traffic towards Leeds and around the city. The A658 heads north to Leeds Bradford Airport and Harrogate. In the centre, the inner ring road and the approaches around the Interchange station slow at peak times.

FAQ
Common questions
Will I pay a Clean Air Zone charge for a delivery into central Bradford?
Not as a separate bill. Bradford's Clean Air Zone charges vans that do not meet its emissions standards, and private cars are not charged. Should the van on your job be liable, we fold that cost into the price you agree with us up front, and no further bill follows. Many modern vans meet the standards and are not charged at all.
Which parts of Bradford are inside the Clean Air Zone?
The zone covers the area inside and including the Outer Ring Road, plus the Aire Valley corridor along roads such as Manningham Lane, Canal Road and Bradford Road out to Shipley and Saltaire. Much of Keighley, Bingley and the outlying industrial estates are outside it. The council publishes a map and a vehicle checker, but you do not need to check: we account for it when we price the job.
Can you take a replacement part from a Bradford engineering firm to a factory in the Midlands today?
Usually, yes. Birmingham is about 120 miles south via the M606, M62 and M1, so goods collected in the morning or by early afternoon usually reach a Midlands factory within the working day, and we run through the evening if the site has a night shift. Give us the part's weight and dimensions, the goods-in contact and any order reference the site needs.
Can you deliver chilled food from a Bradford producer to a customer in London?
Yes, in a refrigerated van, subject to availability for your timing. Central London is roughly 205 road miles away, mainly via the M1. Tell us the product, the quantity, the delivery slot and the temperature range; the range is agreed with you when you book, with 2–8 °C being the usual band for chilled food. Make sure the product is already at temperature when the driver arrives.
We are in Keighley. Is that covered the same as Bradford?
Yes. Since our service covers the whole British mainland, Keighley, Bingley, Shipley, Ilkley and everywhere else in the Bradford district are treated exactly as the city is. You still get a van of your own, the closest suitable one, and an estimated collection time when you book.
