Wolverhampton makes things that other factories are waiting for
Most urgent consignments leaving Wolverhampton are not finished products for a shop shelf. They are parts for somebody else's production: a batch of machined components for an aerospace assembler, a fabrication for a plant in Telford, a casting for a machine shop in the Black Country, or an engine part that has to be on a test bed tomorrow.
That is work for a dedicated van rather than a parcel network. The vehicle and driver are booked for your consignment only and go directly from collection to the delivery address. When you book, we allocate the nearest suitable vehicle and confirm an estimated collection time based on its position.
Aerospace in Wolverhampton
Aerospace is a large part of Wolverhampton's industry. The city's long-established actuation plant, formerly part of Collins Aerospace, passed to Safran in 2025 and makes actuation systems for aircraft. Moog, another flight controls specialist, has a factory at i54. Around them is a supply chain of precision engineering firms, heat treatment and plating specialists, and inspection houses.
What the sector needs from a courier is care and documentation:
- components packed in their own protective packaging and kept upright where marked
- certificates and release paperwork kept with the part, never separated
- a named recipient at the goods-in point, and a signed proof of delivery for the quality file
For high-value or delicate parts, our fragile and high-value courier page covers how delicate parts are handled in the van. Tell us the value at booking: goods in transit cover is standard, and cover limits and exclusions are set out in our terms, so we can confirm cover or arrange more for high-value consignments.
i54 and the M54 corridor
i54 South Staffordshire, at M54 junction 2 on the city's northern boundary, is one of the Midlands' newer advanced manufacturing parks. Jaguar Land Rover's Engine Manufacturing Centre is there, along with Moog, Eurofins laboratories and other manufacturers. Suppliers to these sites work to booked slots and delivery references, and a part arriving late can hold up a line.
For plants with strict booking-in rules, see how our automotive courier work is organised. For runs further along the M54, our Telford courier page covers the factories at Hortonwood, Stafford Park and Halesfield.
Black Country engineering
To the south and east, Wolverhampton runs into the older industrial towns of the Black Country: Bilston, Willenhall, Darlaston, Wednesbury. Metal pressing, forging, casting, fabrication and finishing are still common. The consignments are often heavy or long: a steel frame, a set of pressings on a pallet, a casting that needs a forklift.
For these, the vehicle matters. A tail-lift Luton copes with heavy pieces at sites that have no dock, and an LWB van takes long, lighter items. Our large item courier page and the van size guide explain the options. For heavier and more awkward engineering loads, see our manufacturing and engineering courier page.

The hospital, university and city centre
New Cross Hospital, run by the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, is the city's main acute hospital. The University of Wolverhampton has its main campus in the city centre, and Wolverhampton Science Park on Stafford Road houses technology and research businesses.
The city centre is enclosed by the A4150 ring road. Inside it, loading restrictions and pedestrianised streets mean the driver needs exact delivery instructions: rear entrance, loading bay or reception.
Getting out of Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton is linked to the M6 at junction 10 by the A454, and to the M54 at junctions 1 and 2. Junction 10A, where the M54 meets the M6, is a regular point of delay, and the M6 between junctions 8 and 10 can be slow at peak times. For runs to Birmingham, the A4123 and A41 are often the better choice than the motorway.

FAQ
Common questions
Our parts are going to an aerospace customer and need their certificates with them. How do you handle that?
We treat the paperwork as part of the consignment. Put the certificates of conformity and release documents in a sealed pocket fixed to the box or crate, not loose in the cab, and tell us when you book that they must stay with the part. The driver hands both over together, and the signed proof of delivery records who accepted them and when.
Can you deliver to a unit at i54?
Yes. i54 South Staffordshire is reached from M54 junction 2, on the northern edge of the city. Sites there are run by large manufacturers with their own gatehouse rules, so give us the company name, the gate or goods-in point, any delivery reference and a contact. Without a reference, drivers can be held at the gate while the site checks who ordered the goods.
Is there a Clean Air Zone in Wolverhampton?
No, Wolverhampton does not have a charging Clean Air Zone. The nearest is in Birmingham, inside the A4540 Middleway. For a run into central Birmingham, any zone charge for the van on your job is built into the quote, so there is nothing extra to pay afterwards.
We have fabrications too long for a normal van. What can you send?
An LWB van takes items up to roughly 3.4 metres long, and a Luton van has a load area of around 4 metres, though exact figures depend on the vehicle model and we confirm them at booking. Give us the length, weight and number of pieces, and whether there is a forklift or crane at each end. Items beyond van size need a lorry, which we do not provide.
Can you collect from Wolverhampton late in the evening?
Yes. We work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including bank holidays. Many Wolverhampton jobs are evening collections from a factory that has just finished a batch, going overnight to a customer who needs it for the morning shift. Book as soon as you know the finish time.
