A town where two motorways meet

Watford's position is its biggest asset for anyone sending goods. The M1 and M25 meet just north-east of the town, so a van leaving Watford can be heading north to the Midlands, east to Essex and the ports, or west to Heathrow within minutes. London is close enough that many Watford firms treat it as a local delivery.

That position also explains the mix of businesses here. Head offices and regional offices fill the town centre and the business parks to the west. Film and TV production gathers around the studios at Leavesden. Distributors, trade suppliers and light industry occupy the estates in north Watford. Each one sends something different.

Every booking is one van and one driver for your consignment, going straight from collection to delivery. When you book, we allocate the nearest suitable vehicle and confirm an estimated collection time from its current position.

Offices: Clarendon Road and Croxley Park

Clarendon Road, running north from the town centre towards Watford Junction station, is Watford's main office street. Croxley Park, on the western side of town towards Croxley Green, is a large business park with its own campus layout. Between them, they produce most of Watford's document and IT work: signed contracts, tender submissions, original documents for a bank or a solicitor, and laptops or monitors for staff moving between offices.

That work is small and time-bound. The value is in a named recipient, a fixed deadline and a signature at the end. Our document courier service explains how chain of custody is kept for paperwork that matters.

Studios at Leavesden

Leavesden, on the northern edge of Watford, is home to one of the country's best-known film studios, and productions there draw on suppliers, hire houses and workshops across the south-east. Consignments include props, costumes, camera and lighting kit, set pieces and paperwork, often with early call times and a security list at the gate.

For studio deliveries

Put the production's working title, the stage or building, and the name of the person meeting the driver in the booking. A van turned away at a studio gate because nobody expected it loses time that cannot be made up.

Trade, retail and the hospital

North Watford has industrial estates around Greycaine Road and the A41, where distributors and trade counters send stock to sites and shops. The town centre has a large shopping centre and a busy high street, which generate retail stock moves and returns. For consignments that can wait until tomorrow but still need to arrive at a set time, our next-day courier option is often the better fit.

Watford General Hospital, on Vicarage Road, is the main acute hospital for west Hertfordshire. Deliveries of equipment, records and properly packaged samples go to the department or delivery point your contact specifies.

Roads and slow points

The M1 serves Watford at junctions 5 (A41) and 6 (A405), and the M25 at junctions 19 (A411), 20 (A41 at Kings Langley) and 21 and 21A, where the two motorways meet. The A41 runs north-west to Hemel Hempstead and south-east to Edgware, and the A412 links Watford with Rickmansworth and Uxbridge.

Inside the town, the ring road carries most traffic around the centre in one direction, which can make a short distance a longer drive. Bushey Arches, on the south-eastern edge of the town centre, queues at peak times, and so does the A41 near junction 5. The M25 between junctions 16 and 21 is busy for much of the day.

FAQ

Common questions

Does a Watford home match affect deliveries to Watford General Hospital?

It can. The hospital sits right beside Vicarage Road stadium, and on match days the surrounding streets fill with traffic, parking restrictions and closures before and after the game. If a delivery to the hospital falls on a match day, tell us the department and the delivery point, and we plan the arrival to avoid the busiest hour where the deadline allows. Outside match days, the main challenge is simply finding the right entrance on a large site.

Can you bring props or equipment to a production at Leavesden?

Yes, to the gate and delivery point the production specifies. Studio lots run on security lists, so send us the production name, the stage or workshop, the contact who will meet the driver and any pass reference. Call times are often early, and we run 24 hours a day, so a 5.00 am arrival is no problem. Our film and TV production courier page covers kit runs between studios, hire houses and locations.

We have an office on Clarendon Road. Can you get signed documents to Canary Wharf by lunchtime?

Usually, yes. Canary Wharf is roughly 25 miles away by road, round the M25 and A12 or through north London, and the timing depends heavily on the hour. A mid-morning collection after the rush normally arrives by lunchtime. Give us the tower's goods-in or reception instructions and the recipient's name. You get a signed proof of delivery as soon as it is handed over.

Do you cover Bushey, Rickmansworth and the Langleys?

Yes. Bushey, Croxley Green, Rickmansworth, Abbots Langley, Kings Langley and Garston are all served in the same way as central Watford, and so is everywhere else in mainland UK. Each job is a dedicated van sent from wherever the nearest suitable vehicle is, so the town or village you are in does not change how the service works.

Can you deliver stock to a shop in the town centre before it opens?

Yes. Shops in the town centre shopping centre usually take deliveries through a shared service yard with set hours and sometimes a booking system, while high street units may rely on kerbside loading before restrictions start. Tell us which applies, the unit number and who will be there to receive. We operate 24 hours a day, so an early-morning drop timed for before the doors open is straightforward to arrange.
